nathan wrote to me tonight with some interesting information about our rotc boys' upcoming service:
nathan: im at Ft. Sill, i started my training on the first of the year. i just started week 4 or 19
me: is it everything you've always expected?
nathan: well its flat
me: i meant the army, not oklahoma
nathan: hahahah ohhhh. its hard as hell but im adjusting, i can send you a pic of what i have been doin but it will take a while to send
[then he sent me a picture of him firing a cannon]
me: is brian in training too?
nathan: he just got to texas this past weekend and started today
me: are either of you in any danger of being deployed?
nathan: brian is leavin for either iraq or afganistan in august
me: oh no. that makes me very nervous
nathan: yeah the unit he has been sent to is leaving in august but he doesnt know to where yet and im due by christmas
me: you boys need to be careful
nathan: you know we will, anyways brian is in a noncombat job
me: still, he could get beheaded
nathan: well you have a point
nathan: yeah, he gets to his unit in april i believe, up in new york. he is in the medical service corps, attached to the 10th mountain division.
so if you have any interest in talking to either of them before they are deployed, this is the time to do it.
